My Story
I always had a problem with my weight since childhood. I had asthma and didn’t do too much physical activity as a teenager. I was never comfortable in my own body and had very low self-esteem.

When I did start working out (or what I thought was working out), I was on a mission to get my asthma under control and get off medication. I lifted weights, with minimum cardio, and tried cutting back on eating fast food. WTH, I gained more weight. So, I tried all the fad diets of the 90’s and would lose 10lbs here, gain 15 back after stopping the diet (at least the ones that did work). I figured I’d cut all carbs and that should work…NOPE. So, I moved on and tried meal replacement shakes, fat-burner supplements, along with the fad diets, and lifting weights. Yes, you guessed it, I gained even more weight. The one and ONLY time I was able to lose a significant amount of weight (50lbs) was when I trained with a personal trainer named Felix Nunley (this guy literally changed my life and more on him later).

By this time, I was still on asthma medication, now diagnosed with sleep apnea, went to a hormone specialist to be told I had an extremely slow metabolism (that was just depressing), and was now at 279lbs. The crazy thing was that even then, I never had high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and the heart of an athlete according to the cardiologist. After so many years of trying to fight off multiple medical conditions and genetics, I decided to get gastric bypass surgery in June 2016 as a last resort. As some have told me in the past, that it was the easy way out of losing weight, I’m here to tell you its most definitely nothing easy about it (we’ll talk about that journey another time).

Fast forward to 2020 and I’m the healthiest I have ever been and getting better. I’m off all my medication, took up running, and became a motivator too many to live a healthier lifestyle. Looking back at all those years of being dedicated to losing weight, nothing worked because I was not dedicated to doing the research of what I was putting into my body and what I needed to obtain my goals. So, I started to research more about living a healthy lifestyle, how nutrition plays a part on various medical conditions, physical fitness (personal trainer Felix Nunley thought process), and better ways to handle stress. Most importantly I learned to keep learning. There is always more room for growth. What works today may not work tomorrow. What works for me may not work for you, but I most definitely can help you figure out what will work.

Let’s make something together.
